This is a small reminder of summer. I can feel the heat of the August sun beating down on the shed. The daisy garden is full of weeds and Zorro is laying in the shade panting.

This was going to be the picture on our holiday card. I never had them printed. Next year I will do better. I will also put a tree up. But I still like the idea of letting people pick out their own gift from my vast array of possesions. If I do that every year by the time my days on this earth are over I should be out of stuff.

This trip has become all about the peacock. On the first night here I had a dream about a peacock flying and landing in a tree. They don't fly. Then it came after me and I shewed it away and it felt like a stuffed animal. Then its partner flew away with it.

Since the OWOH giveaway I have been so consumed with all of the great art that i have not posted on my own blog. We had a ice/snow storm and I had to work during most of it (I work in a maternity ward, and births don't stop for weather) so I really didn't get to storm nest. Today I'm home so I'll make soup and look out the window.

MORE THAN A MOMENT

This morning I stayed in bed and read. What a wonderful read this book is. I see you everywhere is a story about two sisters. It is told in both of their voices. They feel they are so different from each other, but their voices are so alike that at times I can't tell who is speaking. I have two daughters and am intrigued by the relationship of sisters. I have one of my own but I am 12 years older than her, and was living far away by the time she grew up. This was not a moment to frame but a whole morning.This is our faithful companion Zorro. He spent the morning with me sleeping by my side.

Framed Stranger

Yesterday my friend Susan and I went to a flea market. Our husbands(aren't they cute) are in a band called Norman Conquest and they practice on Sat morning. We had fun searching through other peoples junk looking for treasure. I found my treasure in this little boy. He was buried in a box of junky frames. He was so quiet and lonely I had to take him home. I think I'll call him Buster. Later that evening my daughter and her new husband came from Columbus to make a birthday dinner for me. It was wonderful. Pork loin with roasted root vegetables. With a decadent chocolate and raspberry cake. All of us in the kitchen was a framed moment.

I have been thinking a lot in the last few months about what makes life rich and rewarding. I have come up with my theme for the year,"FRAME THE MOMENT".Great literature and fabulous movies capture our attention because they present every day life in a frame. A moment is brought to our attention by framing. A simple leaf blowing down an empty street all of a sudden has meaning.A women measuring coffee beans into a grinder with an old dog at her feet becomes a rich moment. When moments are framed we are asked to stop and examine them. I must have a million of these moments every day. Most of them are fleeting. I have to start framing them. My life is by no means a great book or an indi film, but I have framable moments. I am having a framable moment now.I'll set the scene,

I'ts 4:50am on one of the coldest mornings on record here in Ohio. I'm in my art studio sitting in my thinking chair with a shawl around my shoulders. The house is still. My husband is asleep in our bed. Should I make coffee or tea? I can see this on the big screen.
